Demystifying Neurodevelopmental Therapy: My Guest Spot on the Eden Equips Podcast

Hi everyone,

I recently had the honour of being a guest on the Eden Equips podcast, hosted by the wonderful Rebecca McCullough of Eden Consultancy.

It was such a joy to support their mission of “Changing the world for neurodiverse children by equipping their key adults with knowledge and strategies.” We spent the half hour exploring the realm of neurodevelopmental therapy and the work of Map & Compass.

The Big Question: What is a Neurodevelopmental Therapist?

Probably my favorite part of the entire podcast was getting to answer the question: “So, what exactly is a Neurodevelopmental Therapist?” I get asked this almost every day, and I love having the chance to explain it because so many people have the same question. If you’ve ever wondered what my work at Map & Compass actually does or how this specific type of therapy supports a child’s journey, we break it down a bit in this episode.

Bite-Sized Nuggets of Education

We used the word "fascinating" too much discussing the reality of how the brain works. We packed the episode with:

  • Simple Neuroscience: Brain science explained in a way that actually makes sense.

  • Practical Q&A: Answering the real-world questions parents and educators face.

  • Heart and Passion: A deep dive into why this work matters so much for neurodiverse families.

A Tool for You to Share

If you are a current client with Map & Compass, you might have found yourself trying to explain what we do to family members, teachers, or friends, only to find it a bit tricky to put into words.

This podcast is for you.

If you’ve been looking for a way to help the "key adults" in your child's life understand this approach, please share this episode with them. It’s a great taster to help others communicate what it's all about and get everyone on the same page.

How to Listen

Whether you are a parent, an educator, or just "neuro-curious," I’d love for you to give this a listen and share it with someone who might benefit from it.
