Full Assessment & Home Programme

Service Description

The full standardised assessment including an audiometric listening test if appropriate (2.5- 3 hours). The assessment comes after the Initial Consultation and includes a full INPP diagnostic assessment of Neuro-Motor Immaturity and may also include a Johansen or Tomatis® assessment according to the individual needs of the client. The assessment includes standardised tests for gross muscle coordination and balance, primitive and postural reflexes, cerebellar involvement, aberrant reflexes, eye movements and visual perception, laterality, handwriting, and spatial and orientation problems. The home programme will be prescribed according to the results of the assessment. This is a comprehensive plan for how to move forward in manageable steps working towards the integration of retained primitive and postural reflexes, improvement of balance, posture, coordination and control of eye movements which support general development and progress in school and in life. Review Appointments will be carried out at 8 week intervals to assess progress and adjust the daily home programme. The average length of an INPP programme of reflex integration is between 12--18 months. Auditory/Listening Programmes (Tomatis® or Johansen) can take between 6 - 10 months on average. The specific programmes that will be best for the client will be determined according to the results of the full assessment. *For a school aged child, please book a morning appointment during holidays, or during the week when they can be taken out of school, because it's important that the child is not over-tired for the assessment after a full day of school. **This assessment does not include the thorough written report due to the time involved in preparing it (which enable parents to present a report that can be given to school, clinician, etc.) but this can be added if required and is listed in the services offered. The full written report is 18-22 pages long and includes all the results of the assessment along with an optional report reading appointment for the parents/carers. Home Visits can also be arranged for an additional charge.
